Doris M. Knight

LITTLE CREEK - Doris M. Knight passed away Sunday, April 17, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. She was 80. Doris was born on May 9, 1930, in Dover, daughter of the late Earl and Naomi (Gruwell) Melvin. She had worked for the State of Delaware in the Motor Fuel Tax department. Doris enjoyed playing and watching sports, crocheting and spoiling her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert C. Knight; two sons, Robert E. Knight and his wife Jill of Magnolia, with whom she lived, and Ronald E. Knight and his wife Lynnette of Dover; a sister, Jeanette M. Gottorf of Milford, who provided special care and loving support; four grandchildren, Sara Knight of Felton, Joshua Knight of Magnolia, Megan Knight of Dover, and Rebecca Knight of Dover; and a great-grandchild, Aiden Ellis of Dover. Services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, April 21st, at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather one hour earlier. Burial will follow in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901; or the Kent County S.P.C.A., 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934. Letters of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
