SMYRNA - Doris E. Knox of Smyrna, passed away on April 28, 2015 at the age of 93. Mrs. Knox was born June 15, 1921 in Medford, Mass. the daughter of the late Karl and Florence Perkins. She proudly served her country in the US Navy as a Seaman 1st Class during WWII. Doris retired after over 20 years as an Occupational Therapy Aide for DHCI in Smyrna. She volunteered at the Modern Maturity Center for many years and was a member of the Laura Rebekah Lodge #11 of Smyrna where she served many offices and was past president of the Delaware Chapter in 1992 to 1993. She loved to travel and had been to all 50 states and to 19 foreign countries. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; two brothers, Paul and Arthur; and three sisters, Margie, Flo and Cilla. She is survived by her three sons, Marvin and his wife Barbara of Smyrna, David and his wife Billie Jeanne of Dover and Alan and his wife Dee of Townsend; five grandchildren, Melanie, Jennifer, Katie, Jacob and Hayley; five great grandchildren, Stephenie, Jenna, Ashlee, Connor and Cole; and one great great grandchild, Caleb. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main Street in Smyrna, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2015. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna. In lieu of flowers, contribution may be made to The Modern Maturity Center Daybreak, 1121 Forrest Ave., Dover, DE 19904 or to Seasons Hospice, 220 Continental Drive, Suite 101, Newark, DE 19713.
