Donald Laverne Woodall passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022, in Dover, Delaware at Bayhealth Medical Center after a short illness.
Donald Woodall was born in Magnolia, Delaware on June 24, 1954, the fifth child of Doris Elizabeth Clark Woodall. During his early schooling he attended Caesar Rodney High School where he excelled in scholastics, was President of the National Honor Society, was selected to attend Boys State, and then chosen to represent the State of Delaware at Boys Nation. He graduated from Cesar Rodney High School in 1972.
Prior to starting his college studies at Yale University, Donald spent a year as an American Field Service exchange student. He stayed in Oslo, Norway with a host family, the Woie's', whom he stayed in touch with until his passing. During his time at Yale University, he also spent time in Columbia, South America as an exchange student before graduating in 1977.
After a short stint in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Donald relocated to New York, New York, where he spent most of his life until returning to his birthplace, Magnolia, Delaware, in June 2021. Donald loved the city as he could enjoy the best of music, food, and theatre. He was also an avid traveler and was able to travel the world through the work he performed in training and for pleasure. In particular,he enjoyed places he could practice his Spanish and Dutch; he was fluent in both.
He was known for doing things on his own terms and his own time. He celebrated his 50th birthday by learning to play classical piano and putting on a full recital for his family and friends in New York. He then enjoyed spending several years teaching young people piano lessons.
Donald was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Elizabeth Clark Woodall; his father, Charles Elliott; and siblings, Holland Woodall (Emma), James Woodall (Mary), Kenneth Woodall (Karen), and Reginald Woodall (Gloria).
He is survived by his K9 child, Oliver Woodall of Magnolia, Delaware; and siblings, Carole Matice (Woodall) Tennessee, Larry Woodall (Earlue) of Lincoln, Delaware, Phyllis Brown (Alan) of Dover, Delaware, and Anthony Woodall of El Paso, Texas; a cousin whom he was very close to, Charles Clark (Sharon) of Dover, Delaware. He also leaves to mourn a host of family and friends from all over the world, who will miss him dearly.
