DOVER - Donald L. McGhee went to be with the Lord Jan. 27, 2015. He was born Dec. 27, 1930 in Franklin County, Va. to the late Wilmer T. and Sallie K. McGhee. Donald proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for twenty-one years and in civilian capacity for twenty years. He had oversea tours of duty in Korea, Azores, France, Philippines and Panama Canal Zone. Donald loved to travel, had been in all fifty states and many countries. Donald loved the Lord and liked to visit different churches in his travels. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church for forty-three years and recent member of New Harvest Baptist Church. Donald served in numerous capacities in many churches through his lifetime. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Renee', who was a joy in his life; three sisters and three brothers. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lala P. McGhee of Dover; daughter, Donna M. Phillips and her husband Richard C. of Camden; sister, Virginia M. Smith of Dover, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover, with Pastor Jim McBride and Pastor Jim Moore officiating. The viewing will be one hour prior. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden, with military honors. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Building Fund of New Harvest Church, 967 N. State Street, Dover, DE 19901.
