ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Donald James Davis II "Jim", 50, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and uncle, passed away Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at his home. He was born in Wilmington, Del., on July 29, 1959, to Donald and Irene Davis. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Midway OS Division from 1977 to 1983 when he was honorably discharged. He was awarded with the Navy "E" Ribbon, Navy Expeditionary Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation, and First Good Conduct Award. He attended the University of Florida and earned a Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering and a Master degree in Business Administration from the University of North Florida. He is survived by his long time friend & spouse, Shirley Davis; his cherished daughter, Alexandra Jade Davis; step-daughters, Jennifer and Sarah Grim; treasured mother, Ada Irene Davis; brothers, Ron and Scott Davis; sister Diane Nau; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Donald James Davis ;and his nephew, Jesse Davis. A service was held for family and friends at the St. Johns Family Funeral Home, 385 State Road 207, on Tuesday, Oct. 27th. He will be buried at the Arlington National Cemetery, in Arlington, Va. There he will rest with his fellow soldiers who gave their lives selflessly, and fought with valor to defend freedom for all. He will be forever remembered, loved, respected and missed by all who knew him. He touched the hearts of all who had the good fortune to know him, in a special and unforgettable way. St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
