LAUREL - Donald A. Elzey, age 74, of Laurel, Delaware passed away on August 16, 2014. Donald was born in Cambridge, Maryland, he is the son of the late Emerson Elzey and E. Louise Bentley of Millsboro. He had also lived in Delmar, Dagsboro, and Annapolis. Donald retired from Sam's Club after 17 years of service. He was also an accomplished drummer playing with numerous bands across Delmarva, most recently playing for "Almost Country". Known to many as "Sticks", he was an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast, and enjoyed his trucks and motorcycles. In his early years, he enjoyed many sports, especially bowling, softball and baseball. Even though he stuttered his words, he was quite the jokester, and could often be found at the Laurel Truck Stop with his friends. He enjoyed the American Legion Post #19 and hanging out with all walks of life. He could make any one smile and never meet a stranger. Cherish family memories include his enjoyment of cleaning his truck, and motorcycle, and making the chrome shine. Donald was also a member of Christ Evangelistic Church in Laurel. Mr. Elzey is survived by his wife of 32 years ,Sherry Elzey, of Laurel; son, Marvin Williams and wife Katherine of Laurel; daughters, Christine Wootten and Gene Solenberger of Seaford, and Donna Elzey of Millsboro; his brother, Ralph Bentley of Georgia; and a sister, Harlene Riddle and husband Glenn of Millsboro; eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews also survive him. He was preceded in death by his father; and a daughter, Penny Jones; and a brother, Bobbie Bentley. A Funeral Service will be held at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home Laurel, Del. on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 2 p.m., a viewing will also be held from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. The Rev.
