Murray, 68 GEORGETOWN - On August 3, 2012, after a 3 year battle with Lou Gehrig's disease, Don Murray went home to be with the Lord. Don was born on June 15, 1944, in Milford, Del. He was the pastor of St. Paul's UMC of Laurel for 16 years before retiring in April 2011, where he recently received the Mighty Man of God Award. He was also Past Master of Franklin lodge #12 in Georgetown and served on the Indian River School Board of Education for 5 years. He was also a member of the Toast Master organization in Salisbury and served in the United States Air Force for 4 years. He was a graduate of Georgetown High School and Del-Tech. Don was a great musician, playing the banjo with the Don Murray Family Gospel band. His hobbies were golfing, bowling, playing softball, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell & Dorothy Murray of Georgetown; and a sister, Linda Semans of Dover. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carol; daughters, Kelly and husband Steve Willing, Shelly and husband Ed Wilson; granddaughters, Jessica and husband Dann Kinsler and Mindy Willing and grandsons, Seth and Shane Wilson. He is also survived by a brother, Randy Murray and wife Debbie and was awaiting a great-granddaughter due in November. A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown, where friends may call Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday after 11 a.m. Don's final resting place will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro. The services will be officiated by Pastor Bruce Rogers, Rev. Rebecca Rollins and Joe Roszin. Flowers are welcome or donations to St. Paul's UMC, 32827 Old Stage Rd, Laurel, DE 19956.
