BERLIN, Md. - Delthia Hickman died peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at Atlantic General Hospital, Berlin. She was 75. Delthia is survived by her husband of 55 years, Lorah Hickman of Berlin. The couple lived in Frankford, Del. Delthia worked for the Indian River School District, retiring in 1986. She and Lorah were avid golfers at Sussex Pines Country Club in Georgetown, Del., and were lifetime members of St. George's United Methodist Church, Clarksville, Del. Delthia was a past Worthy Matron of the Frankford Chapter 12 Order of the Eastern Star. Delthia loved to golf, cook, travel and spend time with family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed. She was predeceased by her parents, Roxie and Clarence R. Townsend of Frankford; and her brothers, Raymond and Alden Townsend. She is also survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Tim Doyle, and their daughters Ragen and Rylie of Dagsboro, Del.; her sister, Pauline Rickards of Dagsboro; her niece, Rhonda Lynch and husband A.F. and their daughter Ashley; and a nephew, Sherman Townsend of Dover, Del. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Thursday at St. George's United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at noon and funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Delthia Hickman may be sent to St. George's United Methodist Church, 34281 Omar Road, Frankford 19945. Arrangements by Melson Funeral Services of Frankford.
