Delma Pecoa Hayes Williams SEAFORD - Delma Pecoa Hayes Williams, 80, of here died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. Born in Kempsville, Va., she was the daughter of the late Issac and Nettie Hayes. She was raised in Norfolk, Va. and later migrated to Seaford where she was cared for by the late Herman and Edith Palmer. For more than 60 years, Mrs. Williams was a member of the Clarence Street Church of God where she served in many capacities. Under the leadership of great men such as Pastor James, and currently Bishop Carlton Cannon, she was a faithful servant and lived the life of a God fearing woman. She also faithfully served as the Northeast Regional Fellowship Coordinator for many years until she was no longer able to do so. She was employed at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in the Dietary Department for several years and at Gant Shirt Factory where she retired. After retirement, she devoted all of her time to being a homemaker, mother, grandmother and foster mom. In 1992, Mrs. Williams' self determination propelled her to accomplish things that most people her age would never have dreamed. At the age of 63, she continued her education and earned her high school diploma. "Aunt Dee," as her family and friends affectionately called her, was well loved and known in her community for her love of children and her famous frozen cups. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Edward Williams of Seaford; three sons, Lorenzo (Carolyn) Williams of Seaford, Gregory (Voncia) Williams of Hebron, Md., and Roy (Vicki) Knox of California; one daughter, Gloria (Bishop Jesse) Abbott of Salisbury, Md.; 12 grandchildren, Alonzo Parker, Jawanda Abbott, Jessica Abbott, Jocelyn Abbott, Jozel Williams, Latisha Williams, Latasha Williams, Lee Davis, Malcolm Cannon, Renny Williams, Roy Knox, and Shay Davis; eight great-grandchildren, Kimani Smith, Jeremiah Abbott, Quinton Williams, Zada Williams, Lotus Davis, Taylor Davis, Malik Davis, and Marcel Davis; extended family, Sussie Gibbs, Lisa Young, Pershephanie Whaley, Tomeka Long, Sylvia Dickerson, and twenty other foster children; and a host of cousins, other relatives, in-laws, and friends. She will lie in repose on Monday, Jan. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, Jan. 12, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Clarence Street Church of God in Seaford. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow the service in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE.
