David W. Goss, 57
SMYRNA - David William Goss, of Smyrna, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, in Christiana Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was 57. Born in Wilmington on Dec. 26, 1951, son of J. David and Dorothy (Weitzel) Goss, he was a life-long resident of Delaware. He graduated from Henry C. Conrad High School in 1969 and the University of Delaware in 1973· David recently retired after 30 years of teaching both at Middletown High School and Polytech High School. He was a member of Armstrong Lodge, 26 AF & AM, a Senior DeMolay, Past Advisor of Kent Chapter Order of DeMolay, Past Associate Grand Guardian of Delaware, International Order of Job's Daughters, and current Associate Jurisdictional Guardian of Delaware and Job's Daughters International. He enjoyed teaching, working with youth, collecting comics, sending and receiving jokes through email from a select set of friends, and spending time with family and friends. In addition to his parents, left to cherish his memory are his wife of 35 years, Mollie Campbell Goss; his son, Scott of Newark; his daughter and her husband Samantha and Mark Butler of Dover; and his two beloved grandchildren, Dylan and Madison Butler. David is also survived by his sister and her husband, Pennie and Jon Smith of Bear; and his two nieces, Amanda Smith of Virginia, and Kerrie (Nate) Allen of Maryland. David and Mollie were also, at one time, legal guardians of Scheveria Wade. He and his wife were the original owners of Duck Creek Plaza and Video World. They have owned and operated DMS Trophies for over 30 years. They have many long-time customers whom they considered as friends. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the E.O. of Demolay, in care of Dave Chidester, 283 Fox Hole Road Camden, DE 19934 or to Job's Daughters in care of Susan Warren, 107 Decker Avenue Newark, DE 19711.
