David W. Brown, 84 DOVER - David W. Brown, of Dover, died Saturday, July 26, 2008, in Bayhealth Kent General Hospital. He was 84. Mr. Brown was born June 8, 1924 in Wildwood Crest, N.J. to the late John W. and Isabel Hutchinson Brown. Mr. Brown was a graduate of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J. and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Theta Chi the alumni associations, and the Cap and Skull. He was an Army veteran of WWII. He was a civil engineer for the Public Service Electric and Gas Company in New Jersey. Mr. Brown was best known for his work with the U.S. Olympic Committee, where he was chairman of the New Jersey fund raising committee and an Olympic Official in track and field. In his youth he was the captain of the Wildwood Crest Lifeguards. He attended Wesley United Methodist Church in Dover, enjoyed traveling, and being with his family. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Beulah "Bea" Brown, Dec. 31, 2006. He is survived by a son, David W. Brown Jr. of Media, Pa.; a daughter, Lisa Brown Cutrona and her husband Francis of Dover; a brother, John "Jack" Brown of Pennfield, N.J. and his wife Jean; brother-in-law, Charles Gilbert Davidson and his wife Betty of Philadelphia, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Gladys Augerouth and her husband W.C. of Stratford, N.J.; three grandchildren, Gillian Cutrona Fuller and her husband Joseph, Paige Brown Cutrona, and Damon Brown Cutrona and a great-granddaughter, Lillie Autumn Fuller. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, in the Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St. , Dover, where friends may call one hour prior. Burial will be in the Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Cold Spring, New Jersey.
