SMYRNA - David James Kaltenbaugh passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021.
He was born February 22, 1946, in Bedford, PA to the late Byron W. Kaltenbaugh and Clarice Roudabush Kaltenbaugh.
Mr, Kaltenbaugh moved to Altoona, PA in 1962. Just 2 years after High School, he joined the United States Navy, and served in Viet Nam aboard the USS Constellation (CV 64). He worked at an A&P Warehouse in Altoona, PA for 10 years, and a brief period with Pennsylvania Railroad, then with Herr's Potato Chips as a warehouse manager for 17 years. He was big into sports especially the Pirates and Steelers were his favorite teams! He also enjoyed good game of golf, and loved bowling; his highest score was 290!
Mr. Kaltenbaugh is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou Caputo Kaltenbaugh, of Smyrna; sons, David S. Kaltenbaugh (Jane) of Magnolia, Brian R. Kaltenbaugh (Susan) of Martinsburg, WV; sisters, Doris J. Scaglione (Vince) of Murrieta, CA., Kathy Wise (Bruce) of Altoona, PA.; sister-in-law, Ethel Kaltenbaugh.
A Memorial Mass will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 15, 2021, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St., Dover, DE.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 20165 Office Cr., Suite 2, Georgetown, DE 19947.
