MILLINGTON, Md. - David C. Lane of Millington died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, in his home. He was 69.

Mr. Lane was born Sept. 4, 1937, in Easton, youngest child of the late J. Roy and Maud Butler Lane.

He was raised in Caroline County, and moved to Millington in 1964.

Mr. Lane began his career in billing with Baugh & Son, a fertilizer company in Georgetown, and soon moved into sales and management. The company moved to Massey and became Kerr-McGee, where he worked until becoming disabled in 1988, with 35 years of service.

He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and playing cards.

Mr. Lane had been active in the community with Millington Lions Club and Asbury United Methodist Church, where he held numerous positions. He was active with Chester Lodge 115, AF & AM, serving as Past Master, and the York Rite.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Lane; three brothers, Donald Lane, Lee Lane and Roger Lane; and a sister, Frances Butler.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ellen Parks Lane; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David Carl Lane Jr. of Otto, N.C., and Craig and Victoria Lane of Knightdale, N.C.; a daughter and a son-in-law, Karen and Joseph Delfavero of Saltsburg, Pa.; three brothers, J. Ralph Lane of Preston, and Alvin Lane and Harold Lane, both of Easton; three sisters, Clara Marie Chance of Easton, Ruth Saunders of Seaford, Del., and Bettie Williamson of Federalsburg; and three grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, beginning with a Masonic service, in Asbury United Methodist Church, Millington.

Burial will be private in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Easton.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Asbury U.M. Church, PO Box 187, Millington, MD 21651.
