Daniel P. Gargiulo, 89 LEWES - Daniel P. Gargiulo, 89, of Lewes, passed away after a short illness at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009. Dan was born on April 1, 1920 In Jersey City, N.J. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1938. He was a member of the gymnastics team and at the same time developed a great interest in reading. Mostly historical material. He served in World War II and was stationed at Walter Reed Hospital, in Washington, D.C., where he was trained as a dental technician. He later opened his own Dental Laboratory in Kensington, Md., where he lived and raised his family. Dan is survived by three sons, Daniel, Jr., William, and Michael; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Dan's own childhood was shared with 17 brothers and sisters, 11 of them surviving into adulthood. Dan moved to Lewes in 1985. He later graduated from The Delaware Technical Community College in 1988 where he received an Associates degree in Applied Science. Quite an accomplishment at the age of 68. His Service is scheduled for 1 p.m., Friday, April 16, at the Veterans Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro. The interment will be private. Donations can be made to the Delaware Hospice 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
