Clarence Porter, 99 DENTON, Md. - Clarence Porter, of Denton, and formerly of Hickman, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at Caroline Nursing Home in Denton. He was 99. He was born on May 28, 1910, near Andersontown, Md., son of the late Joshua Porter and Lizzie Trice Porter. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mabel Mae Torbert Porter who passed away on April 3, 1993. He had worked as a mixer operator for O.A. Newton and Son Feed Mill in Bridgeville. He enjoyed fox hunting and going to the auction barn at American Corner. He is survived by a son, Clarence Edward Porter and his wife, Pauline of Federalsburg, a daughter, Joyce Armes and her husband, Chester of Federalsburg; seven grandchildren, Wayne Porter (Karla), Joann Smith (Steve), Darlene Bailey (Kevin), Jeff Porter (Linda), Shelley Sherman (Teddy), Chester "Jr." Armes (Rachel), Stacie Armes; ten great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild are due to arrive in February and March and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Scott and Etta Dukes. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 16, at the Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg with Ed Collier officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his great-grandsons, Richard Porter, Joshua Porter, Jason Smith, Michael Porter, Joe Bailey, and Justin Sherman.
