Milford - Clarence Kenneth Draper (Ken) passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at home. Ken was born in Lincoln, DE the son of the late Samuel Leroy and Helen Carson Draper. He was a graduate of Milford High School, where he served as the President of his senior class and was also known to all as the best dancer of his class. He entered the U.S. Army following high school serving with the 101st Airborne, and then entered the U.S. Navy. He served in the Delaware National Guard as an Army Aviator (boy did he ever love to fly them helicopters!) and retired in 1997 as a Senior Warrant Officer 5, with 43 years' service. Ken received his BA degree from Delaware State University in 2005 as a History Major. He served on the Delaware Board of Electrical Examiners for 9 years and was the first public member to serve as president of the board. He owned a construction management firm that provided inspection and management services to the various school districts in the state during several school renovations. Ken enjoyed working in the community as a humanitarian. He was a member of the Milford Jaycees, where he was a past president, and the American Legion Post # 3, serving as the Post Commander. He was a Mason and was a member of the Temple Lodge #9, AF & AM, of Milford. His greatest love was his membership and participation in the Milford Lions Club, serving more than 30 years in the surrounding community and around the world. He served as President as well as in every other office in the club a number of times. His greatest honor was to have served as Delaware's District Governor from 1999 - 2000. Because of his outstanding service to the Lions Club, Ken was recognized with the Melvin Jones Fellowship. He was also a lifelong member of the Avenue United Methodist Church, Milford. In 2010, Ken was inducted into the Milford High School Football Hall of Fame. Among the many hobbies Ken had, he loved flying and was a master aviator and a commercial pilot, enjoyed golfing, reading and traveling. During his travels, he had the opportunity to visit many countries. He enjoyed going to the Westside Diner and the Milford Diner with his buddies to have coffee; where he also liked teasing the waitresses and telling jokes. He was a devoted husband, father, pop pop, great pop pop and brother. He loved to play with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were the apple of his eyes. In addition to his parents Ken was preceded in death by his twin brother Robert L. Draper and his devoted dog Pebbles, who had saved Ken's life at one time. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Brenda M. Draper; one sister Barbara A. Brittingham, of Lincoln; four children, Clarence K. Draper, Jr. (Darlene) of New Jersey, Pamela K. Galyean of Virginia, Gregory L.
