Clarence E. Bailey

MIDDLETOWN - Clarence E. "Ed" Bailey of Middletown, formerly of Hartly passed away, Monday June 11, 2018 at Christiana Hospital.
Mr. Bailey was born Dec. 22, 1928 in Earlville, Md. to the late Bennie Bailey and Ester Elliot Bailey.
He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Mr. Bailey was an electrician and member of the IBEW Union #313, retiring in 1990 after 22 years. He was a member of the VFW Post #8801 in Clayton and the Modern Maturity Center in Dover. Mr. Bailey played the electric bass guitar and would visit and entertain at nursing homes, and was also a member of the Ed Salmon String Band in Hudson, Fla. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wonderful wife, Margaret Beattie Bailey, in 2016.
He is survived by his son, Jim Bailey and wife Dorothy of Bear; daughter and caregiver, Lynda Bailey of Middletown; sister, Ida Mae Hessey of Georgetown, Md.; grandchildren, Andrea, Arthur, Edwin and Laurie; five great-grandchildren, with a sixth one on the way.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, following the service.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Modern Maturity Center, 1121 Forest Avenue, Dover, DE 19904.
