CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Christopher Norris Harrison of Chestertown died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007, in the Chestertown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chestertown, of lung cancer, with his wife by his side. He was 82.
Mr. Harrison was born Aug. 12, 1925, in Abington, Pa., son of the late Henry N. and Marjorie (Butler) Harrison.
He graduated from the Augusta Military Academy in 1943. He then joined the U.S. Army and served from 1943-63, where he attained the rank of major.
Mr. Harrison served in both World War II and Korea.
In 1966, he graduated from Washington College with a bachelor"s degree in history and political science.
Mr. Harrison then went on to work for the U.S. Navy and Washington College as the director of Audio Visual Services and the Language Lab.
Prior to his diagnosis, he was for many years a volunteer at Queen Anne"s High School, where he received Queen Anne"s County Public School Volunteer of the Year Award 2004-05.
Mr. Harrison married Barbara Price, on Sept. 2, 1971, in Easton.
He was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity, the Scabbard and Blade Honor Military Society and a life member of the Frank M. Jarmin American Legion Post 36.
Mr. Harrison is survived by his wife, Barbara K. Price Harrison of Chestertown; two daughters, Frances Harrison Coddington and her husband Herb of Salisbury, Elizabeth Harrison Chance and her husband "Hal" of Easton; three sons, Richard Norris Harrison and his wife Edna of Chesterfield, Va., David Thorp Harrison and of Federalsburg, Alan Harrison his wife Lisa and of Colchester, Conn.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Sept. 8 in the Chester River Friends Meeting House, Chestertown.
