DOVER - Charlotte Kenton passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 20, 2018 after a lengthy struggle with vasculitis and pulmonary thrombosis.
She was born on May 1, 1930 in Palisades Park, N.J. to Marley and Catherine (Batemen) Calvert. Having been raised during the Great Depression, she valued her family, faith and country.
In addition to her parents, Charlotte was predeceased by her husband, Ule; son-in-law, David Scott Luke; her brother, Joseph Calvert; and sister-in-law, Dolores Calvert. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia K. of Magnolia and Denise K. (Michael) of Clayton; grandsons, Darren M. Luke (Katherine) of Magnolia; Ryan M. Stypinski and Jason D. Stypinski both of Clayton. Charlotte is also survived by two great granddaughters, Juliana N. and Camille E. Luke of Magnolia.
Charlotte graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in 1949 and retired in 1991 from the Delaware Department of Education following 37 years of service to the state and county. Charlotte deeply loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. A kind-hearted and giving person she would do anything for family, neighbors and friends. Her warmth, compassion and concern for others demonstrated her strong devotion to her Catholic faith.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday May 24, 2018 at Holy Cross Church in Dover. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at Holy Cross followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Charlotte's name to the Samaritans of Holy Cross at 631 South State Street in Dover or the Shepherd Place shelter located at 1362 South Governor's Avenue in Dover.
