Charles E. Farrell

MILTON - Charles E. Farrell, age 79, formerly of Milton, passed away Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at Milford Center, Milford. Mr. Farrell was born in Felton, the son of the late James E and Mary Elizabeth (Carlisle) Farrell. He worked for Sussex County Housing Authority for many years. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a Past Grand Master for the State of Delaware 1993-94 and Past Master of Endeavor Lodge #17 in Milton, Delaware. Mr. Farrell was a member of the Scottish Rite, York Rite and Delaware Colonials. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War serving with the rank of Captain. Mr. Farrell served on the Commission of Veteran Affairs. He was a Past President of the Purple Heart Association and also a member of Korean War Veterans Association, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. In addition to his parents, Mr. Farrell was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Dorothy B. Farrell in 2007. He is survived by five children, Debbie Fothergill and Judy Farrell of Seaford, William Simkins of New York, Karen Simkins of Milton, and Robert Simkins and his wife Luann of Princess Anne, Md.; three brothers, Clifford, James E. and Johnnie Farrell; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be noon, Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, Inc., 416 Federal Street, Milton, where friends may call Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery.
