Catherine 'Kitty' Miriam (Small) Sweigert, 93
LEWES - Catherine "Kitty" Miriam (Small) Sweigert, of Lewes, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 93.
Mrs. Sweigert was born Sept. 11, 1914, in York, Pa., daughter of the late Edward and Gilberta (Allen) Small.
She lived in Philadelphia and Wallingford, Pa., before her move to Delaware in 1996.
She was employed by General Electric in Pennsylvania for 33 years, retiring in 1978 as an inventory control specialist.
While still employed, Mrs. Sweigert served as the women's director of the Quarter Century Club at GE and secretary of the Southeastern PA Women's Bowling League.
Mrs. Sweigert was a member of the Sussex Family YMCA, an avid reader and an arts and crafts enthusiast.
She was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Quentin "Swag" Sweigert, in 1961.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Sweigert of Bucks County, Pa.; her son, Lawrence "Larry" Sweigert of Lewes; and her sister, Margaret Irwin of York.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by James E. Downs at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Jude The Apostle Church, Del. 1, north of Five Points, Lewes, where friends may call at the church one hour prior to Mass.
Interment will be private at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, Pa.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Sussex Family YMCA, 105 Church St., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Enterprises, Lewes.
