DOVER - Catherine "Kay" A. Forey (Canty) passed away peacefully at home on Friday, Mar. 31st. She was born Aug. 25, 1935 in Brookline, Mass. to parents James and Catherine Canty (Conlon). Catherine was a devoted and loving mother. Her family was everything to her and she took great pride in being the "matriarch" of the family. Some of the greatest joys of her life were times with her grandchildren, to whom she affectionately was known as Yammy. She loved holidays and family get-togethers (especially watching her beloved Patriots!); any chance to spend time with her family was important. She was known for her feisty and great sense of humor. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving son (from her marriage to Alan F. Forey Sr.), Alan F. Forey Jr. of Magnolia; grandchildren, Jennifer K. Gray and husband Stephen Gray of Harrington, Patrick A. Forey and wife Denise Forey of Felton, Jonathon J. Forey and girlfriend Andrea Breitkreitz of Felton, and Bailee L. Forey and Fiancée Kevin Scott of Magnolia; five great-grandchildren, Rosalynn, Aiden, Emma, Aubrey, and Elise; sister, Barbara "Dede" Kenney of Attleboro, Mass. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter in-law, Tina M. Forey (Dickson); and siblings, Mary Vosolopolous, James Canty, Patrick "Paddy" Canty, Eileen Weaver, Sara "Teresa" Libby, and Paulie Canty.
Her life will be celebrated at Trader Funeral Home (12 Lotus St., Dover) for Visitation on Wednesday, Apr. 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church (631 S. State St. Dover) on Thursday, Apr. 6th at 10 a.m. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Delaware Hospice (delawarehospice.org, or Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Center, 2nd Floor, Newark, DE 19711).
Letters of condolences may be sent to www.traderfh.com
