HARTLY - Carrie Melvin of Hartly passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, in Capitol Health Care Center, Dover. She was 77.
Mrs. Melvin was born Aug. 12, 1930, in Hazlettville, daughter of the late Edward Caldwell Sr. and Cynthia Seamen Caldwell.
Mrs. Melvin worked as an attendant at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Smyrna, for 27 years before retirement.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Melvin, in 1990; a sister, Edith Neidig; and a brother, Bunny Seamen.
She is survived by a son, William L. Melvin Jr. and his wife Barbara of Hartly; two daughters, Betty Jo Charles and her husband Jerry of Woodside and Ruth Ann Walters and her husband Tracy of Dover; four brothers, Edward Caldwell Jr. of Galena, Md., Bill Caldwell of Canterberry, Dan Caldwell of Rehoboth Beach and Louis Caldwell of Clayton; two sisters, Mary Williams of Kenton and Betty Ann McGinnes of Rehoboth Beach; six grandchildren, Kenny Knowles, Karen Graubart, Michelle Brennan, Shannon Peers, Erin Evers and Billy Melvin III; and seven great-grandchildren KJ, Kara, Brittany, Mia, Tanner, Ian and Mackenzie.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour prior.
