SMYRNA - Carol Breslin of Smyrna, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Breslin was born March 10, 1942 in Wilmington, the daughter of the late William and Virginia Tierney. Carol retired as the Financial Officer for The House of Representatives of The State of Delaware after many years of service. She was also part owner of her family's contracting business, Breslin Contracting, Inc. Carol enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren at the family beach house. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sons, Patrick and Shawn Breslin; and her brother, Bill Tierney. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Pat; three daughters, Tracy Filliben (Gene), Terry Suess (Bill) and Trish Donovan; her daughter-in-law, Michele Breslin; 15 grandchildren, Lindsay, Joey, Devin, Taylor and Jeff Filliben; Billy, Tori and CJ Suess; Matthew and Amber Breslin; Shawn Michael and Jessica Breslin; and Jeff, Tracey and Becky Donovan; two great grandchildren, Alaina and Matthew Jenkins; six sisters, Ginny Griffith (Brian), Mary Tannen (Allen), Trudy Rybinski (Rich), Ann Enlow, Cathy Knoll and Libby Jones (Glenn); and a multitude of extended family members. A viewing will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014 in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 13, 2014 at St. Polycarp's Roman Catholic Church, located at 135 Ransom Lane in Smyrna. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery in Newark. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Little Sisters of The Poor, 185 Salem Church Rd., Newark, DE 19713, as this was Carol's favorite charity.
