Carlton D. Coker Sr., 85
DOVER - Carlton D. Coker Sr. of Dover died Friday, July 20, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 85.
Mr. Coker was born Sept. 10, 1921, in Dover, to the late Alonzo and Rebecca (Carney) Coker.
He was self-employed in the construction business.
Mr. Coker was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dover.
He was also a member of the Lenape Indian tribe of Delaware, and the Retreads Motor Cycle Club.
Mr. Coker enjoyed watching wrestling and NASCAR, and loved to travel.
He was preceded in death by his son, Alonzo Coker; three brothers, Clarence Carney, Norris Carney and McDonald Coker; a sister, Cecilia Carney; and a grandson, Adam Coker.
He is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Anna E. Loatman Coker of Dover; five sons, Carlton D. Coker Jr., Dennis J. Coker of Cheswold, Curtis S. Coker of Willow Grove, Christopher S. Coker of Dover, and Peter D. Coker of Pike Creek; his daughter, Carla Coker of Dover; his brother, Walter Coker of Dover; his sister, Victorine Durham of Dover; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Immanuel U.M.E Church Cemetery, Cheswold.
