Carl Paul King, Sr., loving patriarch of the King family, passed away on Aug. 31, 2018. He was born Nov. 4, 1926 in Woodside to the late Bradley and Blanche King. While most of his life was spent in Camden, he enjoyed his retirement living between Lewes and Stuart, Fla.
In addition to his parents, Carl was predeceased by his wife, Nancy; wife, Hattie; daughter, Kathy; stepbrother, John; brother, Billy; and sisters, Doris and Marie.
He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Carol; brother Bradley "Mickey" King and his wife Margie; son Bruce and his wife Cathy; son Carl King, Jr. and Diana; his grandchildren, Justin King and his son Blake; Katie and her husband Joshua and their children Weston and Tyler; brother in law, Joe Cimino and his wife Norma Jean; stepchildren, Debbie and Ron Jones, Kenneth and Susie Edwards, Mark Edwards and Jennifer; seven step-grandchildren and 10 great step-grandchildren; one great-great step-grandchild and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Carl proudly served his country at age 18 as an Army Ranger in the Philippines and Japan. During that time, he served in General MacArthur's honor guard and witnessed the Japanese signing of surrender documents. Upon his return home, Carl started his successful businesses, Carl King, Incorporated, Carl King Express and Carl King Tire Company. He was also an active volunteer and chief engineer of the Camden-Wyoming Fire Department, served as commissioner of the town of Camden and police commissioner of Camden. He was a faithful member of Whatcoat United Methodist Church. He loved to fish on The Kingfish with his wife and family and many great friends. He was a member of the Lewes Yacht Club and the Yacht and Country Club of Stuart, Florida. He will be remembered as a kind, giving, loving and well respected man.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Friday, September 7, 2018 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018 at Whatcoat United Methodist Church, 16 N. Main Street, Camden. Burial will follow in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
