Blanche (Pollard) Schmitt, 101

DENTON, Md. - Blanche (Pollard) Schmitt of Denton died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, in Ruxton Health Center, Denton. She was 101.

Mrs. Schmitt was born in Williston, daughter of the late Thomas Edward and Flonnie (Hynson) Pollard.

She lived in the Denton area all of her life and was a graduate of Caroline High School in Denton.

Mrs. Schmitt was a housewife, but also worked for Melvin's Restaurant and Richard's Restaurant in Denton.

She was a feisty lady, never hesitating to say exactly what she thought. She was also a loving, caring person and was a friend for life. She had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest.

She was predeceased by two sons, Frank Thomas Schmitt Jr. April 13, 1966 and Clarence "Whitey" Schmitt Feb. 12, 1989; two brothers, Edward Schmitt and Raymond Schmitt; five sisters, Maggie Smith, Edith Singleton, Stella Shafer, Viola Pollard, and Alice Pollard; and a grandson, Louis Walls, Jr.

She is survived by six daughters, Marie Buckle of Wye Mills, Stella Harris and Jeanette Swartz, both of Cordova, Tillie Walls and Beatrice Collins, both of Denton, and Rose Ella Bates of Leesburg, Fla.; a son, Charles Schmitt of Deal Island; 24 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren; three great-great-great-grandchildren; four nieces; and a nephew.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Moore Funeral Home, PA, 12 S. Second St., Denton.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Ridgely Cemetery, Ridgely.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Caroline Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 362, Denton, MD 21629.
