MARCO ISLAND, Fla. - Bettyann Jennings DiSabatino, of Marco Island, formerly of Wilmington, Del., died with her sister, Phyllis DiNardo, on Thursday, May 1, 2008. She was 79.

Bettyann graduated from P.S. DuPont High School in 1946 and the Delaware School of Nursing in 1949.

After leaving nursing school she worked in the maternity division of the Delaware Memorial Hospital and then the DuPont Stone Lab in Newark.

A successful blind date led Bettyann to marry her late husband, Paul E. DiSabatino, in 1951.

As "super-mom," Bettyann volunteered as a school nurse at Immaculate Heart of Mary, St. Francis Junior Board, and the Wilmington Flower Market.

She made every holiday and event special.

Bettyann loved to cook, entertain, and play cards with her grandchildren and spend her summers in Rehoboth Beach, Del.

Spending time with her sisters, Francis Cooper and Phyllis, as well as her fabulous friends was always special.

Bettyann was the Chief Operating Officer of the DiSabatino family and fun-loving mother to Paula DiSabatino Gorman, the late Pat DiSabatino, Gail DiSabatino Showghi of Clemson, S.C., Denise DiSabatino Allen of Dover, Del., and Brian DiSabatino of Wilmington.

"Mom-Mom's" spaghetti and meatballs were enjoyed by all, especially her 11 grandchildren, John McMenamin, Mark McMenamin, Matthew McMenamin, Jill DiSabatino, Justin Showghi, Alexandria Showghi, Tanner Allen, Chelsea Allen, Jacqueline DiSabatino, Jacob DiSabatino, and Dylan DiSabatino; and three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Tessie, and Timmy McMenamin.

Bettyann was the most favorite mother-in-law to Michael Gorman, Anush Showghi, Ronnie Allen, and Kelly DiSabatino.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Ann's Catholic Church, 2013 Gilpin Avenue. Viewing and burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to Christ Our King Church, 2810 N. Monroe, Wilmington, DE 19802.

Arrangements by Chandler Funeral Homes and Crematory, Wilmington.
