SMYRNA - Betty E. Harris went home to be with the Lord while in the care of her daughters, Eileen and Donna in St. Louis, Mo., on Wednesday, Apr. 19, 2017.
She was born Jul. 8, 1930, in St, Louis, Mo., the daughter, of the late William Francis Fretz and Elsie Gladys Hinman Fretz.
She formed a Red Hat Chapter in Smyrna, called the Bodacious Red Hat Ladies, and was very involved with them, up until her death. Betty enjoyed traveling, gardening, sewing, crocheting, and crafts. She especially cherished her time spent with the younger children of the family, all of whom were dear to her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; and her siblings, Herbie, Frannie, Bobby, Billy, Irvin, Doris, and David.
She is survived by her four children, Eileen Harris Evans (John), of St. Louis, Mo., Donna Runyon, of Independence, Mo., Pattie Harris, of Easton, Md., and Bill Harris, of Pittsville, Md.; three siblings, D. Mae Chase and Ronald Ira Fretz (Joyce), both of Smyrna, and Gloria Dale Runyon, of Gallup, N.M.; her granddaughter, Davita Harm (Brian) and their three children, Kian, Sebren, and Riordan, all of Mo.; and a host of nieces; and nephews; she is also survived by a special "grandson at heart", Nate Carrow, and the rest of the Carrow family; and her best friend, Peggy Potocki, of Smyrna.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, Apr. 25, 2016, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main Street, in Smyrna.
Funeral services will begin at 12 p.m.
Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to, DHCI, Ladies Auxiliary, 100 Sunnyside Rd., Smyrna, DE 19977, or to, Asbury United Methodist Church, 20 W. Mt. Vernon St., Smyrna, DE 19977.
