Berneda Evans Crockett, 85

FINCHVILLE, Md. - Berneda Evans Crockett, 85, of Finchville, died Friday, May 29, 2009, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. She was the daughter of the late Rufus and Edna Nichols Evans. She was employed as a domestic worker for families in Seaford and Philadelphia for many years until her retirement. Berneda enjoyed entertaining her family and friends. She was a very family oriented woman. She leaves to mourn her nieces and nephews, Vance (Doris) Bolden, Faye Stanley of Finchville, Md., Harvey L. Evans of Baltimore, Beverly (Ronnie) Holmes of Laurel, Del., Vincent (Sheila) Evans Sr. of Federalsburg, Bruce Evans Sr. of Salisbury, Vaughn (Sharon) Evans Sr. of Hurlock, Booker (Anita) Evans of Bryans Road, Barbara Coston of Finchville, Omega Buis of Charleston, S.C.; and many great-nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceding her in death were siblings, James and Harvey B. Evans, Anna Evans, Catherine Batson, Ruth Thomas, Edna Smith, Thelma Brummell, Dorothy Evans, and Daisy Wingfield. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, June 4, at Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, Finchville, with a viewing on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and two hours prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Cokesbury Cemetery, Cokesbury. Arrangements are being handled by Bennie Smith Funeral, Seaford.
