Barry Richard Solway Sr., 82

HARTLY - Barry Richard Solway Sr., of Hartly, passed away at home Thursday, June 12, 2008. He was 82.

Mr. Solway was born Jan. 19, 1926, in Wilmington, the son of the late John and Anna Mary (Bratton) Solway.

Mr. Solway worked as a self-employed barber/cosmetologist in Wilmington for several years before retirement.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

His hobbies included being on the water, especially fishing, and directing theater in Arden and St. Croix.

He is survived by his wife, Angeline (Zehr) Solway; a son, Barry R. Solway Jr. of Golden, Colo.; two daughters, Alethea Twardus of Cheswold and Christina Lawrence of Georgetown; a brother, Robert Solway of Nottingham, Pa.; and eight grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 5 p.m. June 30 in the Central Mennonite Church, West Denneys Road, Dover.

A reception will follow the services at the same location.

Burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.

Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium Inc., 29 S. Main St., Smyrna.
