Barney Garry Jones

Retired U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Barney Garry Jones, 58

HARTLY - Retired U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Barney Garry Jones of Hartly passed away Monday, June 4, 2007, at the Veterans Affair Hospital, Wilmington. He was 58.

Mr. Jones was born Nov. 30, 1948, in Charleston, W.Va., to the late Barney and Velcie (Boggess) Jones.

He was a U.S. Air Force Vietnam War veteran.

Mr. Jones was a member of Walter L. Fox Post 2, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Air Force Sergeants Association.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and riding his three-wheeler with his dogs.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sherry Lee Jones of Hartly; a daughter and her husband, Lisa Marie and Dennis Delong of Marydel; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, John and Patricia Smith of Hartly; two brothers, Darrel Jones of North Carolina and Jarrel Jones of Indiana; his sisters, Ruth Harvey, Sue Parson and Jean Sheets, all of West Virginia, and Bernice Nicholes of Tennessee; his grandsons, William Tyler Delong and Robert Matthew Delong; a brother-in-law, Bruce Smith; a sister-in-law, Beverly Smith; and two nieces, Jessi Smith and Michelle Smith.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Trader Funeral Home, Dover. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the MS Society of Delaware and/or the American Cancer Society.
