DOVER - Barbara C. Bryant was born on Nov. 8, 1954, to Howard and Virginia Cottman. On Wednesday, April 14, 2011, she surrendered to God's perfect will. Barbara joined St. Paul UAME Church in Smyrna, and was a devoted member who loved to praise the Lord and be used by Him. She was a great woman of faith who prided in encouraging others to "walk by faith, not by sight." Her divine love of the Lord and knowledge of his promises was a trait to be admired by many. Barbara was a kindhearted, warm and loving woman who enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She loved her granddaughters and often bragged about their accomplishments. Her love of life and contagious laugh touched many lives. She was an avid lover of music and enjoyed to dance, especially soul line dancing. She loved sports, especially basketball and was a proud supporter of Delaware's Finest Stars basketball team. Barbara was preceded in death by her brother Howard Cottman Jr. and brother-in-law Michael Bryant. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Larry Bryant Sr.; parents, Howard and Virginia Cottman; two daughters, Tamu Boyd (Eugene) and Tasha Scott (Jermaine); five stepchildren, Travis Glenn (Alicia), Michael Stevenson, Larry Bryant Jr., Cheri Bryant, and Joshua Bryant; eight grandchildren, Jourdyn, Jabrielle, Travis Jr., Tyson, Averi, Cherish, Michael Jr., and Daijia; three sisters, Helena Bryant, Gloria Cottman, and Crystal Cottman; one brother, Leon Cottman; five brothers-in-law, Walter Bryant (Yolanda), Keith Bridges (Debra), Otis Muhammad (Tawanna), Arthur Bryant (Tammy), Ricky Bryant; two sisters-in-law, Mary Sanan (Joe) and Debra Stewart; goddaughter, Keyara Cottman; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, April 22, 2011, at Calvary Baptist Church, 410 Fulton Street, Dover, at noon, where a viewing will be held two hours prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Delaware's Finest Stars Basketball Team; or St. Paul UAME Church, P.O. Box 228, Smyrna, DE 19977.
