Wyoming - Barbara Babb Brown, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Kent General Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Brown had just celebrated her 92nd birthday. She was born on August 2, 1924 in Falls, West Virginia to Helen Vossler Babb and Roy Chapman Babb. Her sole sibling, Betty Babb Thompson, died four years ago on the same date, August 20, 2012. Mrs. Brown graduated from Potomac State College and West Virginia University before moving to Dover, Delaware in 1956. She married life-long Wyoming, Del. resident, John Hunn Brown, Sr., in 1960. They were married for 49 years before he passed away in 2009. Mrs. Brown taught English at Dover High School for over ten years before she retired to have her two children. Barbara was an active member of Maple Dale Country Club and an extremely crafty and successful bridge club player. Barbara was also a committed member of the Camden Friends Meeting, where she will be fondly remembered for her quiet service and generous spirit. Mrs. Brown is survived by her two children, her son, John Hunn Brown, Jr. M.D., resides in Charleston, South Carolina, and her daughter, Alice Hunn ("Hunny") Brown, II, continues to reside in Wyoming, Del. on the family property. At Mrs. Brown's request, there will be no formal service. The family welcomes contributions in her honor to the Camden Friends Meeting at 122 East Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Camden, DE 19934. Letters of condolences may be sent and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
