Barbara Ann Hastings

GREENWOOD - Barbara Ann Hastings (Carl) of Greenwood, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 after a brave battle with lung cancer. Born in Buffalo, N.Y., Barbara was a resident of Manchester, Pa. and graduated from Lansdowne Aldan High School, class of 1963. She spent 19 years working for Girard Bank in Philadelphia, Pa., spending most of her remaining career in the hospitality industry. Barbara worked for both Embassy Row Hotel and Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C. before spending 14 years at the Harrington Raceway and Casino. With her passing, Barbara joined her husband, John R. Hastings; her mother, Clara Ida Carl (Schweppenheiser); and her brothers, Theodore D. Carl and James F. Carl. Barbara leaves behind her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Sandra Carl of Bear Creek Township, Pa.; niece, Amanda M. Carl of Wilmington; nephews, Christopher Ivers, of Denver, Colo. and Theodore Carl Jr., of Wilmington; as well as a brother, Richard Carl of Dagsboro. In addition, she leaves behind her caregiver and friend, Anita Knestaut. There will be no services. Arrangements are by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Pippin Funeral home to defray final expenses or Delaware Hospice, in memory of Barbara Hastings.
