Barbara A. Ptak

HARTLY - Barbara A. Ptak, age 77, of Hartly, passed away on July 22, 2015 at Cadia/Capital Care Facility in Dover. Barbara was born July 22, 1938 in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Smarowski. Barbara remained in Wilmington until the early 1970's, at which time her young family relocated to Smyrna. Employed by Delaware Trust Bank as a teller, Barbara's dedication to the clients and career earned the title of Assistant Branch Manager of the Loockerman Branch, down town Dover. Delaware Trust changed to First Union, at which time Barbara retired. Barbara took on part-time work at Dover Downs Casino and moved on to work part-time at Happy Harry's (Walgreens) in Dover. Barbara was preceded in death by a son, Joseph P. McGee; and her husband, John "Jack" Ptak. She is survived by a son, Michael McGee, wife Donna of Dover; daughter, Mary McGee Virdin of Dover; granddaughter, Ashley McGee, husband Sean Friedly; grandson, Tyler McGee of Smyrna; great granddaughter, Addie Friedly; a sister, Elizabeth Piegalski of Wilmington; and her god-daughter, Donna Schnieder. Burial service will be at All Saints Cemetery in Wilmington for immediate family only. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com. or to www.cathcemte.com.
