Avree Etta Curlee Scott, 77

SMYRNA - Avree Etta Curlee Scott, of Smyrna, died Tuesday Dec. 16, 2008, in her home. She was born Dec. 25, 1930, in Smyrna, and was the daughter of the late Randolph Curlee Sr. and Ethel Curlee. She was 77. After graduating from Delaware Vo-Tech School as a Licensed Practical Nurse, she worked at various nursing facilities in Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland taking care of the elderly which she loved to do. She also attended Wesley College, Delaware Technical Community College to further her nursing career. She enjoyed traveling, going to Virginia Beach, Va., and Wildwood, N.J., for vacation. Her favorite pastime was gardening, taking care of her many birds, spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and her beloved pet dog "Short Short." She enjoyed going to the slots. She loved her family dearly and was truly devoted to each one. In addition to her parents, Ms. Scott was preceded in death by her son, Warren Tyrone Scott; her brother, Randolph Curlee Jr.; her sister, Ellen Curlee Tribbett; her nephews, Edward Tribbett Sr. and Randall Tribbett. She leaves to mourn her loss and cherish so many precious memories her former husband, Frank A. Scott Sr.; her sisters, Ather Grant of Chester, Pa., Leona Bush (James) of Camden; three daughters, Doris Scott of Smyrna, Trish Scott of Dover and Pamela Scott Hilliard (Gregory) of Smyrna; four sons, Frank A. Scott Jr. (Sharon) of Chestertown, Md., James A. Scott Sr. (Deborah) of Millington, Md., Dennis Scott Sr. of Smyrna, and David Scott (Cathy) of Brown Mills, N.J. She also leaves 22 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Bennie Smith Funeral Home in Dover, where friends may call two hours prior to the service. Burial will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Sharon Hill Cemetery.
