Anna G. Sielaff, 98
Anna G. Sielaff of Hockessin, Delaware and formerly of Dover, Delaware, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021 surrounded by her loving family at Summit Assisted Living in Hockessin.
Anna was raised in Baltimore, Maryland and worked as an administrative assistant at Johns Hopkins University for ten years until her retirement in 1988. She liked to keep busy and worked hard to provide a good home environment for her family. She was an avid seamstress who worked to knit and crochet hats and baby blankets for donation to hospitals. She was eager to teach her craft to those who wished to learn and volunteered her time with the Mental Health Department in Dover, Del. to teach crafting skills. She also served for many years on the Suicide Prevention Line in Dover receiving an award for long term service when she moved to South Carolina. Anna was also very active in her churches while living in Maryland, South Carolina and Delaware. She was instrumental in creating the school lunch program at Immanuel Lutheran School in Baltimore, Md. in the late 1950s.
She is remembered for her happy, loving spirit and her infectious laugh. She was known for her love of her Savior and trusted God in all things.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Willard A. "Bud" Sielaff, Sr.; as well as her parents, George and Pauline Geiger; her sister, Pauline King; and her brother, Ed Geiger. She is survived by her children, Ruth Hewlett of Elkton, Md. (wife of the late Robert), Lois Houston of Mineral, Va. (wife of the late Sam), and Willard "Bud" Sielaff, Jr. of Wallingford, Conn. (husband of Carol); grandchildren, Sharon Veatch (Tony), Michael Hewlett (Stella), Elizabeth Brown (Jesse), Kelly Houston (Stefan Barton), David Houston (Audra), Adrienne Sielaff, and Lindsay Petriello (Matt); and 11 great-grandchildren. The family would also like to thank the front line care and nursing staff at Summit Assisted Living as well as the care staff at Seasons Hospice for their kind and loving care in Anna's final weeks.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 10-11 a.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 10 Johnson Rd. Newark, DE 19713. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Burial will be private.
In Lieu of Flowers, the family requests donations in Anna's name be mailed to Lutheran Hour Ministries at 660 Mason Ridge Center Drive, St. Louis, MO 63141 or to Orphan Grain Train - Mid-Atlantic Branch at 89 Line Rd. Malvern, PA 19355.
