Allen T. 'Tommy' Schmidt, 65

SMYRNA - Allen T. "Tommy" Schmidt, passed away at home on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008. He was 65. Tommy was born Sept. 6, 1943 in Chester, Pa., the son of the late Albert Yarnell and Mary Schmidt Pomichalek. He was a chemical operator for Reichhold Chemical in Cheswold, for 37 years before retirement. Tommy was a member of the Delmarva Poultry Club and his hobbies included gardening and raising waterfowl. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Joseph Pomichalek. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann McBrine Schmidt; a son, Duane Schmidt, of Fountain Hill, Ariz.; a daughter, Susan Schmidt, of Annapolis, Md.; a step-son, Rick Grimminger, of Dover; a step-daughter, Donna Carroll, of Bear; a sister, JoAnn Kolb, of Sumter, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2008 in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery Smyrna. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Kenton United Methodist Church, P.O.
