Chestertown - Alfred Ronald Klabe died Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Chestertown Nursing and Rehabilitation. Alfred R. Klabe was born June 8, 1929 in New Castle, Del. the son of the late Alfred B. Klabe and Ella "Denn" Klabe. Mr. Klabe was drafted into the United States Army and served his country stateside. After an honorable discharge he went to work for the Asbestos Union Local 42 in New Castle, Del. Mr. Klabe was very handy and enjoyed doing just about anything. Some of his interests included traveling, woodworking, hunting, fishing, crabbing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Frank M. Jarman Post 36 American Legion. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley M. Klabe in 1990. He is survived by one daughter, Patricia Ewing of Easton, Md., two sons, Ronald M. Klabe of Hockessin, Del., Glenn B. Klabe of Sudlersville, Md., one brother, James G. Klabe of Lewes, Del., long-time companion, Margaret Graham of Chestertown, Md., seven grandchildren, Heather Ewing Slayden and husband Nick of Easton, Md., Jessica Ewing and fiancé Pat Clary of Davidsonville, Md., Courtney Ewing of Trappe, Md., Adam Klabe of Philadelphia, Pa., Zachary Klabe of Canton, Maine, Kole and Kendall Klabe both of Sudlersville, Md., and a great-granddaughter Hailey Slayden. A visitation will be held Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 11am to 12 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home 370 Cypress St. Millington, Md. Services will be held at 12 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service in Sudlersville Cemetery.
