Adele O. Jones, 71
MILFORD - Adele O. Jones passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 8, 2022.
Adele was born on August 19, 1950 in Millsboro, Del., to the late Russell Lloyde and Eva Birtha (Lodge) Cooper.
Adele worked for Playtex for many years before her retirement. She was an active participant in the Milford Senior Center, where she became a part-time secretary. She was a very family-oriented person, which was evident in the multiple daily phone calls with her brother, Russell. She loved knitting, cooking, playing games on her iPad, as well as watching old Westerns and soap operas on TV. She had the spirit of a fighter.
In addition to her parents; Adele was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel E. Jones; her sister, Sonja Thomas; her brother, Frederick Cooper; and her niece, Grace Ann.
Adele will be greatly missed by her children, Lois Wyatt of Milford and Robert Wyatt (Sherry) of Lewes; her special grandson, Kevin David Wyatt of Milford who was like a son to her and was her caretaker for many years; her step-daughters, Patty Shaffer (Eddie) of Lewes and Frances Doughten (James) of Milford; her siblings, Russell Cooper of Rehoboth Beach, Rachel Edwards (Ronald) of Lewes, and Maude Rogers (Kenny) of Georgetown; as well as thirteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 12 p.m. at Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, DE 19963. A time of visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Tiffany, her nurse with Del. Hospice who was an angel sent from God.
