Winifred M. Kenton, 83

Winifred M. Kenton of Hurlock, formerly of Preston, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, in Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury. She was 83.

Mrs. Kenton was born March 26, 1923, in Cambridge, daughter of the late Thomas Kemp and Eva Mae (Layton) Medford.

She was a 1940 graduate of Hurlock High School.

She previously worked at H & R Block, Easton for 15 years and retired from Provident State Bank after 11 years.

Mrs. Kenton was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Preston.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Kenton Sr.; two sons, Cecil Johnson and Thomas Johnson; and two sisters, Jeannette Lutz and Nancy Trego.

She is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, Sharon and Mike Cordrey of Delmar, Del., and Corliss and Gary Wright of Hurlock; a stepson and his wife, W. David Jr. and Linda Kenton of Bridgeville; a stepdaughter, Bonnie Donoho of Reliance; five grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Christi Johnson of Preston, Monica and Scott Shubert of Delmar, Dawn and Donald Brooks of Hurlock, and Shelina Johnson and Shawna Silva, both of Sacramento, Calif.; four stepgrandchildren, John Coppage of Goldsboro, and David Kenton III and Shelly Gonzalez, both of Colorado and Amy Newnam of Reliance; a brother, John Medford of Illinois; three sisters, Betty Williams of Easton, and Virginia Beall and Doris Smith, both of Seaford, Del.; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Framptom Funeral Home, P.A., Federalsburg, where friends may call two hours earlier. Pastor Edwin Thress will officiate.

Burial will follow in McKendree Cemetery, Rhodesdale.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Wicomico Nursing Home, P.O. Box 2378, Salisbury, MD 21802-2378.
