Willis 'J.R.' Moffett, 45

BRIDGEVILLE - Willis "J.R." Moffett, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. He was 45. He was born in Milford, a son of Willis Brown Wood, of Milford, and Barbara M. Sleva, of Harrington. Mr. Moffett worked in heavy construction for most of his life. He was proud of the fact that he was an organ donor, and upon his death, his organs saved numerous lives. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. J.R. also enjoyed reading and cooking. He loved to work with horses, and he also liked to garden. Most of all, J.R. really enjoyed spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Helen Hobson, and Elias and Vesta Wood; two nephews, Jesse Ryan Moffett and John Edward Rust; and a niece, Tara Rae Moffett. He is survived by his sons, Christian D. King, of Lincoln, and Jacob R. King, of Lincoln; his girlfriend, Keisha Cannon and her children Brandon, Alijae, Bootman, and Keishawn, of Bridgeville; his sisters, Brenda M. Porter, of Harrington, and Janelle Wood Allen and her husband Dale, of St. Michaels, Md.; his brothers, Michael E. Moffett III, of Harrington, John W. Moffett and his wife Debbie, of Blades, and David W. Moffett, of Harrington; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008 at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Ray Justice will officiate. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington.
