William W. Henning Sr., 90

LEWES - William W. Henning Sr. of Lewes passed away peacefully Friday, May 11, 2007, in his home. He was 90.

Mr. Henning was born March 11, 1917, in Pittsburgh, son of the late William F. and Ruth (Lingopelt) Henning.

Mr. Henning, a veteran of World War II, retired as a lieutenant colonel after serving more than 20 years in the U.S. Air Force.

He also retired after 30 years of service to the state of Delaware, last serving as the personnel director at the Stockley Center.

He loved to golf and enjoyed traveling.

Mr. Henning was a faithful member of St. George's Episcopal Church. He was a member of the Lions Club and the Rehoboth Beach Country Club.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, A. Christine Henning; three sons, William W. Henning Jr. of Lewes, John D. Henning of Lewes and Larry Henning and his wife, Kathy of Eagle, Wisc.; and two granddaughters, Anna Henning and Carrie Henning.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. May 26 in St. George's Episcopal Chapel, 20322 Beaver Dam Road, Harbeson.

Burial will follow in All Saints Episcopal Cemetery, adjacent to St. George's Chapel.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947; or St. George's Episcopal Chapel, c/o All Saints Episcopal Church, 18 Olive St., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
