William 'Benny' R. Benjamin, 69

FELTON - William "Benny" R. Benjamin, of Felton, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 69. He was born on Oct. 1, 1939, in East Jewett, N.Y., to the late Timothy and Marion (Pond) Benjamin. William had been part of the USAF for 12 years, worked for Western Auto for 3 years, for the Philadelphia Enquirer and Bull dogs for 2 1/2 years and worked for the News Journal for 37 years and then retired at the age of 65. His hobbies he enjoyed were working in the yard; no matter what the weather he could be found in the yard or garage (shed). He was always there to lend a helping hand to friends, neighbors or family. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Reggie Benjamin; sister, Harriett Morris; and grandson, William R. Benjamin III (BJ). He is survived by his wife, Patricia L. Benjamin, of 48 blissful and wonderful, loving years of marriage; and by his grateful and loving four children, William R. Benjamin Jr. (Billy) of Rising Sun, Patricia A. Martin and her husband Fred Martin of Felton, Wanda L. Donovan of Felton, and Sandra D. Houk and her husband Scott Houk of West Palm Beach, Fla.; sisters, Evelyn Fellows and her husband Lou Fellows, Eleanor Thorn, and Loraine Feroro and her husband Vincent Feroro; brothers, Gilbert Benjamin and his wife Lulu Benjamin, Lewis Benjamin, and Juanita Benjamin; 13 grandchildren, Becky, Deven, Daren, Heather, Christopher (CJ), Jacquelyn (Jackie) and Jonathan, Mitchell, Corey, Tyler, Christopher, Adrianna, Brandon, Austin; and three great-grandchildren, Hailea, Matthew and Cheyenne. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, June 3, at the Trader Funeral Home Inc., 12 Lotus Street, Dover. Funeral services will be noon in the funeral home. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to defray funeral expenses to the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover, DE 19901.
