William P. Bryan, 72

GEORGETOWN - William P. Bryan of Georgetown passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, in Lifecare at Lofland Park, Seaford. He was 72.

William was born in Benton, Ky., son of the late William P. and Ollie Lou (Ham) Bryan.

He retired in 1989 after 32 years service with the National Security Agency.

William was an Army veteran serving from 1955–1958 and honorably discharged with a rank of SP4 E4.

He attended the First Baptist Church of Georgetown.

William had been a leader for both Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, he enjoyed stained glass, woodworking and had built the home he and his wife live in.

In addition to his parents, William is preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Peggy (Bogard) Bryan; four children, Barry Bryan and wife Liz of Richmond, Va., Darryl Bryan and wife Bernice of Glen Burnie, Md., Kerry Bryan and wife Angela of Manassas, Va. and Jerry Bryan and wife Susan of Stewartstown, Pa.; six grandchildren, Derek Bryan, Justine Bryan, Raymond Bryan, Samuel Bryan, Chris Bryan and Connor Bryan; a brother, Billy Joe Bryan of Tampa, Fla.; and a sister, Melnora Altshuler, Hopkinsville, Ky.

A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.

Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Georgetown, 601 N. Dupont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947.

Arrangements handled by Short Funeral Services, Georgetown.
