William O. Glanden, 83

FREDERICA - William O. Glanden of Frederica died Thursday, June 28, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 83.

Mr. Glandon was born in Willow Grove, son of the late Herbert and Mary Ann Glanden.

He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

Mr. Glanden, a farmer, drove for the Delaware Association for the Blind for more than 40 years. Even after retirement, he continued to drive for them.

In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening. He also enjoyed micro-midget racing, modified racing and horse racing. He was a jack of all trades who loved to tinker. He was very inventive, modified many objects and could do most anything.

Mr. Glanden was a loving family man who enjoyed life and lived to tease and joke with his family and close friends. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Virginia Glanden of Frederica; a son, William H. Glanden, and his wife, Carolyn, of Greenwood; his daughters, Virginia L. Crabtree of Stevenson, Ala., Susan A. States and her husband, David, of Wilmington; a brother, Dawson Glanden of Dover; a sister, Mildred "Millie" Glanden of Stewart, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
