William M. 'Bill' Piser, 89

SMYRNA - William M. "Bill" Piser, of Smyrna, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. He was 89. He was born in Middletown, the son of the late John and Mary Piser. He was a graduate of Middletown High School, and served in the Army Air Corps in World War II. Mr. Piser was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad, Penn Central, and later, by Conrail, retiring in 1981 after 35 years of service. He was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, Smyrna. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John "Jack" Piser, and James C. Piser. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marie B. Piser; a son, Kern Piser and his wife Marianne of Newark; a sister, Phyllis Stoltz, of Johnson City, N.Y.; and three grandsons, Matthew D. and Robin C. Piser, both of Arlington, Va., and William M. Piser II, of Newark. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 27, at First Presbyterian Church, 118 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Old St. Ann's Cemetery, Middletown. If desired, contributions may be sent to First Presbyterian Church, 118 W.
