BRIDGEVILLE - William Joseph Fleshman of Bridgeville, formerly of Beltsville, Md., died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, in his home. He was 74.
Mr. Fleshman was born Aug. 8, 1932, in Washington, D.C.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force stationed at Kessler Air Force Base, Mississippi from 1952 until 1956 serving as an electronics instructor.
After his discharge from the Air Force, he was employed by Unisys working as an electronics engineer until he left in 1982. Later, he sold real estate and was a car salesman for the former Wright Chrysler dealership, Seaford.
Mr. Fleshman was proud to have devoted 47 years of his life to the volunteer fire service of the Beltsville Fire Department, Prince Georges Co., Md., where he served as chief president and in numerous other capacities. He also served as fire commissioner for Prince Georges County and was the 1992-1993 president for the Maryland State Fireman's Association.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean C. Fleshman; a son, W. Joseph Fleshman of Wayne, Pa.; two daughters, Lori S. Wells of Berlin, Md., and Lisa M. Sheahan and her fiancé, Robert F. Trimble, both of Danville, Pa.; six grandchildren, Jonathan Sheahan and Erin Sheahan, both of Oxford, Pa., Kevin Wells and Kyle Wells, both of Berlin, Md., and Joseph Fleshman and Christy Fleshman, both of Wayne, Pa.
Services will be noon Saturday in Union United Methodist Church, 2 Laws Street, Bridgeville. The Rev. Dale Brown will officiate.
Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Bridgeville.
