SMYRNA - William J. Wallace, "Bill" passed away on the morning of Feb. 2, 2016 at Kent General Hospital with his family present from complications of vasculitis. He was born in Bronx, NY, to Dorothy and Charles Wallace. He grew up in the Old Bridge Sayreville area of New Jersey. Bill spent 27 years living in Lakewood, NJ, then residing in Manchester before relocating to Smyrna, DE in 2008. Bill was a Vietnam War veteran serving active duty in the U.S. Navy, and then several years in the U.S. Naval Reserve (Sea Bees), and the U.S. Army Reserve. Bill spent 35 years working for Modern Handling Equipment Company, then 5 years with SEPTA, before joining the DE DMV in Driver Services two years ago. Bill is survived by his wife, Davenie Albrecht Wallace of 43 years; son, Jason Wallace of Smyrna; and his sister, Ellen Abner of Berkley Springs, WV. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna. Memorial services will begin at 3 p.m. Burial will be privately held. Condolence letters may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com
